Full Job Description

The post holder will assist in growing and developing the charity's communications and fundraising activities. From event planning and organising volunteers to capturing and scheduling social media content with our clients, no week will be the same.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to expand and develop their skills within a fast-paced and progressive team that is keen to make a difference.

  • An Enhanced DBS Check will be required

  • The role requires travel throughout the operation area and, therefore, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes with appropriate business insurance is a requirement.

  • A flexible and adaptable approach is required, with some work being undertaken in evenings and weekends to support training and events.


  • PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    Marketing and Communications
    · To support with generating social media content with our clients. This will require basic camera skills.

    · To assist with editing content for our online channels using Canva and basic video editing software.

    · To schedule and post content across our social media channels, which includes Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X and YouTube.

    · To support with creating and updating marketing collateral using Canva.

    · To use the content management system to update website content.

    · To aid the Marketing and Communications Manager with daily administrative duties.

    Fundraising

    · To assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required.

    · To assist with the administration of fundraising activities on the CRM including mailings and event administration

    · To carry out a range of information gathering activities as required, including online research from the local area and specific fundraising programs.

    · To work with volunteers, arranging events for them to get involved with and supporting them as needed

    · To thank supporters and organisations such as schools, local businesses and larger corporate companies in a timely and courteous manner

    General Administration

    · To monitor and respond to daily enquiries within the charity marketing and fundraising inbox.

    · To research grant giving Trusts to identify potential sources of income for the charity.

    · To maintain the grant application documentation and process.

    General:

    · To undertake other such responsibilities and duties as may be required by your line manager within the level and grading of the post, working flexibly as required.

    · To work collaboratively with others in achieving the aims and objectives of Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire set out in the Organisational Strategic Plan.

    · To positively promote and publicise the work of Age UK H&W.

    · To work within the policies Procedures and quality frameworks adopted by Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire with particular attention to equal opportunities, data protection/confidentiality, safeguarding and health and safety requirements.

    · To work in accordance with GDPR, Safeguarding, best practice and quality frameworks.

    · To take responsibility for own personal development and learning. Undertake training as required.

    · To participate in relevant audits and continuous improvement programmes, to ensure service delivery is maintained in line with internal and external standards.

    · To participate in the supervision and appraisal systems adopted by the Organisation.

    · To undertake relevant training as required by the organisation and agreed with your line manager.

    The following criteria will be assessed from information provided on your application documents, during the shortlisting and assessment process.

    Experience:

    · Experience of working in an administrative role.

    · Experience of collaborating in a team and working independently to attain success.

    · Experience of forming and developing effective relationships with external stakeholders.

    · Experience of using social media either in a personal or professional capacity.

    · Experience in working within events and/or fundraising.

    · Experience of managing donor relationships.

    · Experience in drafting social media, website and newsletter content.

    Knowledge:

    · Good working knowledge of best practice in relation to marketing and fundraising.

    · An understanding of the issues affecting older people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

    · An understanding of the motivation for volunteering amongst different sections of the community.

    · General understanding of community fundraising and donor relations.

    Skills:

    · Excellent communicator, both oral and written, with strong interpersonal skills.

    · Good working knowledge of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams), the internet.

    · Ability to identify opportunities for service development.

    · Good organisation and planning skills.

    · Good attention to detail and accuracy.

    · Ability to prioritise own workload.

    · Ability to work effectively with other teams and to understand their priorities.

    Education and Training:

    · GCSE or equivalent (required)
