Full Job Description

The Mid-Liaison Team offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialities within one multi-disciplinary team, including liaison psychiatry specialist assessments and support, so that all patients with a suspected or actual mental health problem within an acute hospital setting can be assessed, treated, signposted or referred appropriately regardless of age, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity of condition.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service delivery based on a rostered shift pattern. Mid-Liaison service is delivered by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust with the Mid-Liaison Team located within the Broomfield's Hospital Accident and Emergency (A&E) department., The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that an integrated service is provided to Patients and ensure that a good inter-disciplinary working environment is maintained. It is expected that the Clinical Lead will formulate, adopted and promote effective collaborative working relationships with specialist lead clinicians in mental health and staff within the acute hospital ensuring that clinical practice development is an inherent part of the service delivery within the Mid-Liaison Team.

The post holder carries responsibility for the assessment and advising on management of patients presenting with mental health difficulties on wards and within the A&E department and will support and enable specialist expertise in integrated physical and mental health approaches and for intensive support for patients presenting with suspected Dementia or have a diagnosis of Dementia. In addition, there is a requirement to provide support in the active management of those with psychological issues related to frequent attendances to the acute hospital.
