Full Job Description

The clerk is accountable to the Governing Body, working effectively with the Chair of Governors, the Headteacher and other Governors. The clerk to the Governors will ensure the smooth running of the Governing Body:

  • preparing agendas and meeting papers,

  • taking and distributing minutes,

  • giving administrative support,

  • keeping records and up to date information on policies and date of reviews, and

  • providing procedural and legislative advice.

    The Russell School Governing Body wishes to appoint a highly organised and self-motivated clerk to join our team.

    The Russell School is an extremely popular and successful one form entry primary school with a warm and caring ethos. We are in the middle of a truly exciting time of expansion, change and development and we are searching for a new and dedicated member of our team.

    This is a part time role, covering six Full Governing Body meetings and approximately six committee meetings per school year. Meetings are held in term time. Full Governing Body meetings are usually held in the evening with 6.00pm start while committee meetings usually take place during school hours. The clerk is also expected to attend all relevant training events and briefings. The clerk is paid for hours worked on a monthly or termly basis. This includes an amount for annual leave. Hours payable include the whole meeting process (emails, calls and agenda preparation; writing up and distributing minutes) and training events. The time commitment will be approximately 40 to 45 hours per term. Salary (dependent on experience) will be £18.95 - £19.48 per hour.
