Full Job Description

As a Category Manager for Symbols and Independents you will be responsible for leading a team of two direct reports and together developing strong customer relationships maintaining credibility and status.

You will do this through strategic and category through leadership, influencing their category thinking and delivering against our in outlet blueprints at the point of purchase whether that be instore or online. Ultimately this role owns and shapes the ambition and delivery of our category point of purchase plan for Wholesalers, Symbols groups and Independents, 1. Lead the Symbols, Independents and Wholesale category agenda 'maximising today, and unlocking tommorrow' for the wider business with support from two direct reports, Category Executives
2. Create a robust category roadmap for growth rooted in the right shopper insight to drive action and lead the cross functional team to execute solutions against this
3. Set the direction and lead the team to align against the range and space targets that deliver against outlet blueprints and regularly measure progress against this, effectively managing messages through the business cycle
4. Lead inputs into business cases across NPD and EPD with account level information on category and customer marketing opportunities where required
5. Build strong customer partnerships leading to delivery of solutions to influence external measure of category success with improved results in the Advantage Group Survey.
6. Lead the execution of the Symbols and Indepedents category roadmap through range reviews and identifying category initiatives to maximise point of purchase outcomes enabling us to maximise range, primary space, secondary location, availability and macro space, in outlet and online
7. Lead the team to deliver against clearly set performance management objectives
8. Put in place development plans providing regularly coaching, guidance and feedback to improve standards everyday
9. Support the Head of Channel Development to continuously improve the team and standards as a clear 'right hand person'
10. Manage the allocated category development budget against agreed customer data contracts and research projects

1. Strong FMCG experience, ideally in Convenience and Wholesale
2. Category management experience, in an FMCG business, would be ideal.
3. Practical experience of category management processes and range review management
4. Strategic thinker able to develop clear vision for the category within the wholesaler and retailer
5. Strong analytical skills - data literate with experienced using multiple data sources such as IRI, Nielsen, Dunnhumby & Kantar and strong understanding of the latest shopper and market insight and trends
