Full Job Description

This role involves contributing to all phases of a consultancy project - from supporting the preparation of proposals to win new work, through researching and analysing information and data, building emission and projection models, to delivering compelling, engaging outputs, and contributing to reports that are delivered to clients.,

  • Working on a variety of projects including the UK National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory and modelling and inventories projects in the UK and Internationally.

  • Providing ad hoc support and advice to Governments and private sector customers.

  • Developing and improving Inventory models, methods and assumptions, and activity data.

  • Stakeholder engagement, with the AQ modelling community, industry, academia and public sector.

  • Projections and scenario development to support customer policy makers.

  • Development of new emission factors.

    We are currently looking for an experienced Consultant to join our Greenhouse Gas and Air Quality Modelling and Inventories team. This is a specialist role and is best suited to an individual with a minimum of 5 years of relevant consultancy or industry experience., Expert knowledge of the bioenergy and/or domestic energy and heating sector in the context of air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions

  • Understanding of domestic heating and biomass-related legislation, policy drivers and regulation

  • Knowledge of residential and small-scale solid fuel combustion, residential combustion, technologies and appliances

  • Knowledge of renewables and emissions from the industrial sector would be an advantage

  • Understanding or experience of Net Zero technologies applied in the sector.

  • Experience with emission measurements and estimating emissions from bioenergy and/or domestic combustion

  • Modelling of air quality pollutants

  • Network of contacts within air quality, climate change, or the bioenergy sector.

  • Strong communication and client presentation skills.

  • High attention to detail with an appreciation of QA/QC processes.

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification in a science/mathematics related subject.

  • Strong problem-solving and numeracy skills.

  • Proven ability to deliver technically sound results under scrutiny.

  • Track record of task ownership and completion.

  • Proficiency in common software like Microsoft Office.


  • Desirable
  • Experience in emission inventory methods (e.g., IPCC, EMEP/EEA guidelines) and their application in various inventories and projections.

  • Experience in data processing and statistical analysis.

  • Familiarity with Python or R languages or relational database server technologies like PostgreSQL.
