Full Job Description

As a Buyer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll generate significant value for the business by reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services and manage supplier relationships to increase the overall value derived from the supply chain.

Day-to-day, you'll:

  • Prepare, issue and review supplier Request For Quotations (RFQs), recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders

  • Convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders and issue to suppliers, negotiating appropriate T&C's for the protection of the organisation

  • Manage and develop supplier relationships

  • Carry out pro-active supplier order book management activities


  • This position involves occasional travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.

    This role is full time 37-hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

  • Must have a flexible approach to workload, confident reading and understanding technical drawings and ability to communicate complex requirements to/from supply chain

  • Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business

  • Must have a good understanding of complex manufacturing processes and principles

  • Must be self-motivated with a flexible approach to workload

  • A good understanding of the company business and objectives


  • Qualifications for the Buyer
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade-4 or equivalent

  • Be willing to work towards membership of a relevant professional body, for example the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply at a Level-4 or above or equivalent business related qualification


  • Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
