Full Job Description

This is an opportunity to become a member of the Planned Maintenance team within the Estates Department of The University of Leicester. The role is to manage electrical standby and lighting systems for the University, including data centre maintenance, Generators, UPS, PV and lighting controls, you will also be given training to become an HV Authorised Person for the University. As a Building Service Engineer you will contract manage all suppliers in your portfolio ensuring work is carried out compliantly and within University H&S policy and procedures. You will act as technical lead for standby and lighting systems for the University on major and minor projects through the key stages of delivery. The role will use a CAFM system to plan, prepare and carry out maintenance activities. You will manage electrical and mechanical contractors, engage with procurement and provide day-to-day management of maintenance work ensuring it is carried out to the required standard.

You will have a relevant, technical or trade qualification in electrical installation or substantial relevant experience in a comparable role. Experience of being responsible for quality is key, alongside knowledge of Health and Safety within the construction/maintenance industry. You will also have the understanding and experience of the legislative requirements of managing contractors. We are looking for someone who has the ability to work to deadlines, has a strong customer focus, excellent communication skills and a high level of attention to detail. A full driving license will also be required.
