Full Job Description

WOODHAM ACADEMY

Headteacher: Mrs C. Forsyth

Education Welfare Officer

Salary Grade 8 NJC scale - permanent, full-time, whole time (37 hours)

Salary: £23,935 - £27,394 (£24,174 - £27,668 from 1 April 2017)

The Governors are seeking to recruit an Education Welfare Officer. The successful candidate will be based at Woodham Academy but will also work with some primary schools in the Newton Aycliffe area. Your work will centre around improving whole school attendance. There will be a particular focus on working with young people and their families who are considered to be persistently absent, ensuring that they receive the appropriate support from either the school or relevant agency to improve attendance, analysing data to guide interventions and evaluating their impact.

This position is whole time, which means that you will be in attendance at work all year round (52 weeks a year) and will have an annual leave entitlement which must be taken during school closure periods. During periods of school closure outside of your annual leave entitlement, you are required to be in attendance at work.

Woodham Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure.

Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met.
