Full Job Description

The apprentice will be assisting with all aspects of the accounts function including:

  • Purchase Ledger

  • Sales Ledger

  • Credit Control

  • Basic bookkeeping activities

  • Dealing with accounts enquiries by phone or email


  • We will support you to spend 1 day per week at college working towards the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting.

    Working within a busy environment, the role will be varied offering you the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of day-to-day accounts and administrative tasks. You will have the opportunity to develop your communication skills as you will be dealing with customer queries, and finding resolution., Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Essential
    GCSE or equivalent Mathematics (Grade 5/B) Essential

    Pipekit is an independent, family-owned, pipework and drainage distributor based in Shrewsbury. Pipekit offers leading brand pipework and drainage products supported by expert advice and superior customer service that comes with working with a specialist independent distributor.

    You will be working towards gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours to achieve your level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship.
  • AAT Level 2 qualification

  • ACCA Certificate in financial and management accounting (level 2)

  • IAB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping

  • ICB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping

  • Accounts or finance assistant/Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education


  • You will attend Shrewsbury College, London Road campus 1 day a week and the remainder of the working week will be in the workplace., You could reduce your training time, or finish your apprenticeship faster, if you have relevant prior learning or experience. This could be relevant:
